Finally, a few words (and photos) from Italy

It has taken me a week to be able to sort through my life post Italy. I had to actually take the day off work today so I could get stuff done around the house. I actually had time to create two new digiscrap layouts too!


I decided I am going to scrap the trip in chronological order. So, the first two pages here are from our first few days. Let me know what you think of them!! My goal is to make an Italy album for everyone on the trip (by everyone I mean "my gang").

So, now, on to the trip. Let's just say, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. If it could have been just Ryan, the kids and I it would have been perfect. As it was, the trip was fantastic, totally amazing, but all of our personalities clashed a bit too much and that put a bit of a damper on our time in Italy.

People have asked me what the highlight was and I can't think of one single thing that stands out. I enjoyed everything we did. Even the towns I have been to before, I was able to see through "new" eyes (namely Riley and Bella). So that brought a new level to it for me. I was so amazed at how well the kids did. Jet lag was very hard for Bella and she struggled with it right up until we left. But other than that, they were great. Riley was totally into the artwork at the Uffizi, Accademia and The Sistine Chapel. They enjoyed hearing stories about the Colloseum and its gladiators. They ate foods that I never thought they would try in a million years, and, they LIKED them!! Of course, they had their fair share of gelato too!!

The one thing I learned travelling like this with small children is that I need to cut my itinerary in half. We were not able to see and do all of the things we had planned on because we had forgotten to take into account that we had two little people with us who needed frequent potty stops, souvenir stops, snack stops and who walked a lot slower than we did. So now we know. I feel sorry for the people who wait to travel until their kids are older. Don't they know what they, and their kids, are missing??!! Yes, it is a little more work but as long as you plan well, travelling with small kids can be a breeze, and think of all the memories!!
